Join Us

Thinking of joining?

If you wish to become more closely involved in athletics either as an athlete, coach, official or in any other capacity, then the easiest way is by joining a club. Larkhall YMCA Harriers are a friendly club and always welcome new members.

It is not necessary to immediately join the running club, just come along a few times, pay as you go and see if you like us, then decide, (your first session's free).

Pop into the YMCA hall at 7pm on a Tuesday or Thursday night and talk to one of the coaches who will advise you on what your options are.

If you are new to running we strongly advise you to see your doctor before embarking on any new exercise routine...

 Membership for your children?

Running is a fun, inclusive, sociable, and best of all, cheep way of keeping your kids healthy! Here at Larkhall YMCA Harriers we take your childrens safety very seriously and in recognition of this have been awarded the Scottish Athletics Clubmark, see below...

Larkhall YMCA Harriers have achieved the scottishathletics Clubmark, the fourth athletics club within the South Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership to do so. The Clubmark programme recognises clubs who meet national standards of practice and who provide a safe and effective structure for members.

Larkhall YMCA Harriers is the 20th club in Scotland to gain this award. Previous awards in South Lanarkshire have been made to Whitemoss AC, Ron Hill Cambuslang and Calderglen Harriers.

scottishathletics Development Manager Jamie McDonald said: “We are very pleased to make this award to Larkhall YMCA Harriers in recognition of the excellent club structure which the club volunteers have worked hard to implement. The club works well within the South Lanarkshire Athletics Partnership and are to be commended for their efforts.”

Clubmark Officer Stephen Murray, for Larkhall YMCA Harriers, said: “All at Larkhall YMCA Harriers are delighted to have achieved the Clubmark standard. We took the opportunity to review every area of our club as we worked through Clubmark and we have implemented an improved structure and a number of new processes. This will ensure we continue to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for athletes of all abilities as well as all our coaches and volunteers.

Larkhall YMCA Harriers were presented with their award by Jamie McDonald on Friday 4th September 2010.
