It was the West district Track & Feild champs on Friday & Saturday 24&25th May! Here is Elizabeth's report on the event!

Day 1
Good 1st night at the Wests. Ross narrowly missed out on a medal in the U16 boys 1500m coming in 4th. David knocked an impressive 27 secs off his previous Pb in the U14 boys 1500m. Morven and Kirsty had a good race in U16 girls 1500m. Nicola had to run her U14 girls 100m heat twice as no times were recorded in 1st heat and just missed out on a place in the final and Lauren S got to the final but missed out on a medal. In the U16 girls 100m Lauren M had a decent run but failed to reach the final. Well done to you all.

Day 2
7 of our harriers headed out to Kilmarnock today for day 2 of the West District Championships. 5 of them in the under 14 age group.
Elle was had the first run of the day in the 800m and although had a strong run, competition was too strong for her to progress to the final.
Lauren M also found the competition too much in under 16 100m but has another year in this age group to improve. In the under 14 100m races, Alexander won his heat well to get to the final and both Lauren S and Nicola were in the same heat and both qualified for the final. All 3 youngsters found the final daunting but although did not finish in medal positions, they all had a run to be proud of.
In the under 18 female 100m Cara Jay run in what was only her 2nd 100m this season and did all she had to do to make the final and blew the competition away in the final to win Gold.
David won the spoils with Pb's in Javelin and Discus and missed out on the triple gold by only managing to win silver in Shot Putt. Despite the lovely blue sky and sunshine, there was a bracing wind which did no favours to any of the athletes or the spectators but we suspect there will be a few sunburt faces this evening.
